ancient donks
While exploring the tombs in the Valley of the Kings, Egypt. I came across some evidence of Drew's ancestors.
The Mark Inside, Worth the wait.
Things have really slowed down here around the OBVS office. Pi spent the last two months climbing pyramids, swimming in the dead sea, romancing french women and taste testing all the mugs Europe has to offer. I have been busy with.. stuff.
No better reason to come out of the shadows then to to give you a exclusive pre-release track off The Mark Inside's long awaited album. Those of you living under a rock in Toronto I can let you know that The Mark Inside are one of the most vibrant and energetic live shows you can ever see. Personally I have seen the band almost more than any other act and still get excited to see what they have in store.
After releasing their first album static/crash, recording and touring in England with the likes of The Hold Steady, the band was left in a limbo of record label mambo jumbo described on their Wikipedia as:
"In the long wait between recording and release, the band has grappled with the current realities of the recording industry, but they remain focused and look forward to releasing a 6-song vinyl & digital EP in the fall of 2010, to be followed by the LP "Nothing To Admit"."
So you can only imagine how I woke up to this email from guitarist Gus Harris,
"this fuckin' shit almost killed the band.
but, we are coming out swinging.
12" vinyl with digital download coming in late october.
i promise.
in the meantime, brothers here is one of the songs that will be on the record.
spread the word. it's happening.
finally.
-Gus"
Enjoy everyone.

Toronto Parties April 22nd and April 18th
Spring is here, Trinity bellwoods is packed, People are fighting over patio space and if you have ever had problems with focusing your probably like me running in circles. It might be coinisdence or just the good weather but things around the office have been crazy.
We have had a couple chances to show case some of favourite tunes next week and hope that everyone can come out and enjoy.
Saturday April 17th - A private(ish) Loft Party at 25 Marrow street. I won't even be getting there until 3am but plan on spinning wicked electro, Bmore, and facemelting dance tunes through an amazing system. The place has a roof top patio and 13 foot ceilings. This is not to be missed.
Sunday April 18th, Weekend wrap up @ Savoy (1166 Queen West) - For months now we have sitting down at the end of the week talking about what the hell happened. Now everyone is invited. We will be playing great new indie, rock, hiphop and everything else we liked on hypemachine that week. But really, just come for the 4 dollar PBR, 4 dollar 50, 4 dollar jack, and 4 dollar Jagr (I'm not kidding you).
Thursday April 22nd, Family Studies @ Blondies Bar (1378 Queen Street) - This is going to be so much fun and help us fully round up all the music we love. We get to spin great blogcentric house, mashups and electro, fidgit in an actual night club. Come on out and make us look like we know what we're doing.
